Dear Dr George,
Thank you for your email. The Celebration will be held on the 15th,16th,and 17th October this year and some details are available on the website under Bryan's blog. It will be a great thing to gather as many of Thomas Phillip's descendants together and hopefully learn more about our extended family tree. I am descended from his daughter Elizabeth and her husband Moses Rees wrote the Cofiant of Phillips in 1845.
We hope to meet on the 15th at the Feathers Hotel in Aberaeron for discussions and presentations about the academy, the students, missionaries and the Phillips family. This will be followed by a diner in the evening. On 16th there are planned to be visits to the site of the school, Neuaddlwyd chapel,possibly Scythlyn farm and maybe other places associated with Phillips. On Sunday 17th there will be a service in the chapel at Neuaddlwyd. The academy was opened on the 18th October 1810 and this is the closest weekend to that date.
I look forward to meeting you.
Kind regards
Bryan Jones

Hi... my gt gt grandfather was a pupil at the academy....he was also called David Jones and was the minister at Capel Sul Kidwelly from 1824-1867...(there seems to have been a few David Jones's about at the time and I'm doubtful that he's the one who went to Madagascar).

I know that he came from nearby Cilcennin and wondered if you knew whether any admission or graduation lists exist for the academy...Regards, David

Brian;
 I have just learned that Thomas Phillips has a tie to our family tree through his daughter Elizabeth Phillips, wife of Moses Rees. Their daughter, Margaret Rees was the first wife of my great-grandfather, Job Gowrin Davies. They had one daughter, Mary Jane Davies before Margaret died at age 30, I think in a horse accident.
 Although I am descended from Job and his second wife, Elizabeth Parry, I am in contact with many of Mary Jane Davies Cosslett's descendents and we all would like to know more about Thomas Phillips and Moses Rees, whom I already know was the minister of the Congregational Church in Groes Wen until his death. My great-grandmother Elizabeth Parry Davies is buried in the churchyard at GroesWen and I suspect that Margaret Rees Davies is also there. There are also many Cossletts buried there. I live in a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona and will be flying to the U.K next week. We plan to visit the churchyard on Aug. 19th before proceeding to the little hamlet of Monknash where Job and his siblings were born and raised. I have located some descendents of Job's brothers in Wales and we will be holding a family reunion at the old pub in Monknash. Any further information on Thomas Phillips or Moses Rees that you can give me will be appreciated. By the way, are you descended from either of them?

Dear Rhiannon
Moses Rees was my g.g.g.grandfather and I am related via John Moses Rees his son. I know of another person descended from Elvina and if tou agree I can send her your e mail address. I have written a short history of Thomas Phillips and am currently writing his biography so perhaps I can help with some information.
I do hope that you will come to the Celebration next year.
Kind regards
Bryan
