Hi I’m Bryan Jones, retired and living in Lampeter; currently I am a postgraduate student at the University researching the life and theology of Thomas Phillips who was one of my great, great, great, great grandfathers. My great, great, great grandfather Moses Rees wrote the only biography of his father-in-law in 1845. I would be very grateful for any information or contacts relating to Thomas Phillips or any of his or his wife’s families.

    Hi Bryan,

    I am also related to Thomas Phillips through his daughter Elizabeth Phillips and Moses Rees and their youngest daughter Elvina Rees. I live in Caerphilly, just a couple of miles away from Moses Rees last chapel ,Groeswen.

    I’ve been a little limited with the family treeing – only using the internet, – and I have been looking for information on Thomas Phillips – i know who he was in terms of Neuaddlwyd Academy – however i would be very grateful of any information you could share with me.

    Moses Rees was my g.g.g.grandfather and I am related via John Moses Rees his son. I know of another person descended from Elvina and if tou agree I can send her your e mail address. I have written a short history of Thomas Phillips and am currently writing his biography so perhaps I can help with some information.
    I do hope that you will come to the Celebration next year.

    Mose Rees was my great great grandfather. I, too, was born and lived in Caerphilly for 24 years although I have not been aware of Rhiannon until now. I have one surviving sister, Mrs Valerie Lewis and a first cousin, Dr Alan George who lives in Cardiff.I currently live in the small village of Llanvaches in east Gwent.

    Thank you for your email. I have heard from Alan and his connection with Elizabeth Rees. Was your g grandmother Elvina Rees. I am descended from Moses Rees’s son John Moses Rees. Rhiannon contacted me last year and she is descended from Elvina. Hope you will be able to come in October and meet all the members of the family!
