Not much to report this week as I have been visiting family. Suggested dates for the Celebration are 15th, 16th, and 17th October 2010. The Academy was opened on 15th October 1810 so the dates are appropriate. I hope to finalise dates and venues in the next week, so watch this space!

Brian;
I have just learned that Thomas Phillips has a tie to our family tree through his daughter Elizabeth Phillips, wife of Moses Rees. Their daughter, Margaret Rees was the first wife of my great-grandfather, Job Gowrin Davies. They had one daughter, Mary Jane Davies before Margaret died at age 30, I think in a horse accident.
Although I am descended from Job and his second wife, Elizabeth Parry, I am in contact with many of Mary Jane Davies Cosslett’s descendents and we all would like to know more about Thomas Phillips and Moses Rees, whom I already know was the minister of the Congregational Church in Groes Wen until his death. My great-grandmother Elizabeth Parry Davies is buried in the churchyard at GroesWen and I suspect that Margaret Rees Davies is also there. There are also many Cossletts buried there. I live in a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona and will be flying to the U.K next week. We plan to visit the churchyard on Aug. 19th before proceeding to the little hamlet of Monknash where Job and his siblings were born and raised. I have located some descendents of Job’s brothers in Wales and we will be holding a family reunion at the old pub in Monknash. Any further information on Thomas Phillips or Moses Rees that you can give me will be appreciated. By the way, are you descended from either of them?
